Halloween has the be one of the most exciting days for kids! We celebrated by rotating around to the other first grade classes. During those rotations we learned the parts of the pumpkin, made a spider on a web, read Owl Babies and made an owl mask, learned about bats and echolocation and made a skeleton. That afternoon, we celebrated in our classroom. We had games, a craft and some yummy food!
Thanks to everyone who helped at the party or sent in items for us to enjoy! We couldn't have done it without you!

The day after Halloween is a great day too! All that candy is just waiting to be eaten! We used some of our candy to do an experiment. Each child observed their candy, drew a picture, described it, and made a prediction about what would happen to their candy in the water. Each piece of candy was in the water for 5 minutes. Below is what our candy looked like after being in the water for a little while.

This was a mint. As it sat in the water the red lines came off in a swirl Very cool! |

We let the candy sit for 5 minutes and then made an another observation. After science, we put the candy on the table and let it sit for the rest of the afternoon. Some of the candy dissolved completely and some of it turned some interesting colors. What a great way to spend the day after Halloween!
Love the Spiderweb!
