We read the book David Goes to School by David Shannon. In this book David goes to school but has trouble following the rules and listening to his teacher. After we read the book and talked about the rules David didn't follow, we drew and colored our own versions of David. After drawing and coloring, everyone wrote down a rule that David needed to follow. While we talked about the rules that David wasn't following in his classroom we were talking about our classroom rules and why we have each rule. The drawings of David are so cute and look great hanging in the hallway.

On
Thursday, we labeled our room using signs with pictures. While we labeled the room, we looked for parts of the words that we know. For example, we used highlighting tape to highlight the
ch in
chair and the
sh in pencil
sharpener.
On
Friday we made a graph of the boys and girls in our classroom. It wasn't just any ol' graph. This graph involved a candy bar! Each child was given a HERSHEY'S bar. Girls cut out the word SHE and boys cut out the word HE from the HERSHEY'S wrapper. After the words were cut out, we put them on the graph in the correct column. After the graph was complete, everyone enjoyed their candy bar! What a GREAT way to spend a Friday afternoon!

Here is our graph. |

After making the graph we talked about the results and made a chart for others to read. | | |
